The Ege University R&D Strategy Document was prepared to define the university’s strategic direction in research and development in line with its mission, vision, and the strategic objectives set out in the 2024–2028 Strategic Plan, and to strengthen its capacity in this field. The document provides a comprehensive framework that considers the university’s current state, global trends, and national development policies. Strategic programs and actions to maximize the university’s scientific, economic, and societal contributions by enhancing its R&D capacity are detailed, along with the necessary implementation mechanisms.

The Ege University R&D Strategy was developed through a participatory and holistic process. The “Ege University R&D Council,” held on May 13, 2024, was an important milestone that formed the basis of this plan. To set the discussion framework for the council, around 30 interviews were conducted with administrative staff working in research and development and academics conducting R&D activities. Nearly 600 researchers participated in the council; using the PAL Conference method, they provided comprehensive responses and action proposals to around 60 multiple-choice or discussion-triggering questions at 65 tables. The discussions at the council, the answers to the questions, deepened data analyses, best practice reviews, and examination of higher-level plans and policy documents were combined to form the strategic framework.
