Practice Areas
We work across three interconnected areas.
Impact Analysis and Evaluation
In impact analysis, we measure the economic and social impacts of corporations, platforms, policies, and programs using bespoke research frameworks tailored for each client and context. We design tailor-made frameworks rather than applying off-the-shelf models, and we produce reports that combine analytical rigor with clear narratives that resonate with policymakers, media, and civil society.
We bridge two worlds that rarely meet in a single research team: cutting-edge global methods in economic impact measurement, and deep institutional knowledge of the policy and governance contexts in which our clients operate.
We have a strong track record in economic impact analysis across sectors, with clients including Trendyol, Kariyer.net, SAP, Vodafone, Logo, and iyzico.
We also conduct rigorous policy and programme evaluations: recent engagements include the evaluation of Azerbaijan's COVID-19 response program (EBRD), the Cluster Support Program (Ministry of Industry and Technology, Türkiye), and the IPA-2 Employment, Social Policy and Education Sector Operational Program (Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Türkiye).
Spatial strategy and planning
In spatial strategy and planning, we provide economics expertise embedded across spatial strategies at every scale, from individual sites and district master planning to city structure plans and national spatial frameworks.
What distinguishes our approach is that economic analysis drives the spatial work: we start from economic needs assessments, sectoral diagnostics, and demographic projections, then translate those findings into land-use frameworks, investment programs, and implementation roadmaps.
Our core team of economists and planners is built to work within multidisciplinary environments, and we regularly collaborate with architects, mobility specialists, environmental consultants, and infrastructure engineers, reflecting the reality that territorial and spatial planning rarely falls within a single discipline.
Methodologies we usually employ combine four analytical layers: economic and spatial analysis, stakeholder engagement, benchmarking against international case studies, and scenario planning with impact assessment.
We work regularly as the economics lead within large multidisciplinary consortia alongside global planning and architecture firms, and have delivered across more than 12 countries.
Our project track record spans national spatial strategies (Türkiye, Oman), city-scale structure plans (Greater Muscat, Greater Salalah, Ibri, Kuvasoy), regional smart specialisation strategies (Bursa-Eskisehir), technology and innovation districts (Ankara Technology District), and special economic zones and industrial areas in Türkiye, Uzbekistan, South Africa, Ethiopia, and the Philippines.
Since 2019, we have also co-led an annual Masters Studio with the Middle East Technical University Faculty of Architecture, bringing together students of economics, urban planning, and architecture around the theme of industrial urbanism. Each year the studio focuses on a different city, grounding design and spatial thinking in economic analysis from the outset.
Economic Development Policy and Strategy
In economic development policy, we advise governments and development institutions on the policies and institutional arrangements that drive sustainable economic growth. Our work spans private sector development and competitiveness, digitalization and productivity, green transformation, and women's economic empowerment.
Across these themes, we combine policy research and strategy design with institutional assessments and capacity building, ensuring that our recommendations are grounded in evidence and feasible within the governance contexts of each country.
On private sector development, we have mapped Afghanistan's private sector landscape and laid the foundations for its national Private Sector Development Strategy (UNDP), and supported SME policy design and institutional capacity building in Uzbekistan (Asian Development Bank).
On digitalization, we have assessed the impact of digitalization investments on SME productivity, providing evidence-based recommendations for Türkiye's 12th Development Plan. We produced the Digital Turkey 2030 Strategy in partnership with Vodafone, a market report on Türkiye's digital technology sector for the UK Government's Department for Business and Trade, and an analysis of fintech's impact on economic growth and financial inclusion with iyzico.
On green transformation, we developed a green industrial zone strategy and net-zero roadmap for Yalova Organized Industrial Zone, and have worked with IFC to identify green investment opportunities in Türkiye's special economic zones.
On women's empowerment, we designed replicable models for integrating women into STEM-based employment in Türkiye's manufacturing industry (UNDP Türkiye), and produced a care economy scorecard assessing the state and policy options of care services in Türkiye (Oxfam).
