Country: Türkiye

Start Date: 01-10-2020

End Date: 01-03-2021

Client Name: Unilever Turkey

Project Details:

Study aims to assess economic impact of Algida, Turkey’s largest and dominant ice-cream producer, along its value chain, including suppliers, distributors and more than 200K retailers.

This study aims to explore and calculate the economic effects throughout Algida's entire value chain. Through the impact analysis, the study seeks to pinpoint the impacts generated within Algida's ecosystem, starting from sourcing and reaching distribution and sales, using quantifiable factors. This report is the outcome of findings collected from three primary sources of data and information. In the initial stage, data analysis and literature review were carried out. Similar studies within the ice cream and food sector were reviewed. Algida's own corporate data and publicly accessible information were analyzed to conduct numerical assessments. This helped identify main impact channels and lay the groundwork for hypotheses. Subsequently, in-depth interviews were conducted with a total of 23 stakeholders comprising suppliers, distributors, and sales outlets. The aim was to validate core hypotheses, explore fresh hypotheses, and enhance the insights garnered from the study.Furthermore, surveys were administered to suppliers, distributors, and sales points. These surveys subjected hypotheses to statistical testing within a valid range. Quantitative discoveries were supplemented by qualitative insights. Moreover, quantifiable macroeconomic indicators were amassed to contribute to the analysis process.

By combining data analysis, stakeholder interviews, and surveys, the final report provided a comprehensive understanding of Algida's economic impact across its value chain.
