Piloting Self Sufficiency Standard in Turkey 1 February 2018
Project Name: Piloting Self Sufficiency Standard in Turkey
Country: Türkiye
Start Date: 01-06-2017
End Date: 01-02-2018
Client Name: Oxfam Novib
Project Details:
This project involved the formulation of customized self-sufficiency standards for Turkey, achieved through a pilot study conducted in Ankara. The Self-Sufficiency Standard defines the amount of income necessary to meet basic needs (including taxes) without public subsidies and without private/informal assistance.
The research conducted by PAL included defining the self-sufficiency parameters in Turkey, calculating self-sufficiency with existing datasets for the selected pilot city, Ankara, and testing the feasibility of scaling up the pilot to other cities in Turkey, given methodological and data availability constraints. At the end of the project, a comprehensive report was prepared, presenting the current state within the pilot city, Ankara, while also offering insights for future implementations in other cities across Turkey.
