Project Name: Improving Legal and Technical Infrastructure of NGOs in Policy Making Process in Turkey
Country: Türkiye
Start Date: 01-09-2021
End Date: 01-03-2022
Client Name: KİYED - Government and Corporate Affairs Management Association
Project Details:
The objective of this project is to prepare a report that would provide a national advocacy, consultation, and better regulatory framework for Turkey, initiate a public debate on specific advocacy legislation in Turkey, and develop the policy advocacy, technical skills, and capacity of the Government and Corporate Affairs Management Association (KIYED) and other CSOs.
In addition to desk research and literature review, the PAL Team conducted 33 semi-structured in-depth interviews with authorized persons of non-governmental organizations. In addition to the interviews, KIYED organized an advocacy seminar in Ankara. In the seminar, the literature report and in-depth interviews previously prepared by the PAL were summarized and the opinions of the participants were taken. PAL also conducted a survey to participants in order to analyze opinions of the participants with additional data. Results of the survey and opinions of the participants were included in the final report, which also put foward a set of policy recommendations on how to regulate the lobbying sector in Turkey in line with global best practices.
